Jeff Shmase has 25 years of experience in the fields of journalism and public relations. Jeff began his career as a reporter for the Daily Item in Lynn, Massachusetts where he covered many beats and did copy editing/page layout. He was then hired by Deaconess-Waltham Hospital as its public relations/publications manager. In this capacity, Jeff was responsible for overseeing the production of a weekly employee newsletter and quarterly direct mail publications. Jeff was also responsible for media relations activities to promote the hospital’s staff, programs and services.

Later Jeff worked for Mullen, in its PR arm, serving as the day-to-day contact for such brands as Stanley Tools, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and Agilent Technologies, a branch of Hewlett-Packard. Jeff then worked for the Scleroderma Foundation as its communications manager, performing many of the same tasks at the hospital as well as special events.

Suburban Publications then hired Jeff as a reporter for the Lynnfield Weekly News before he was promoted to editor of its publications. Since 2016, Jeff has worked for Thomson Communications, performing media relations work for clients, including: Lowell General Hospital, North Shore Medical Center, A Reason to Ride benefiting Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and the Elizabeth Stone House.

Jeff is also a Realtor for LAER Realty Partners, where he oversees its blog and edits its marketing communications materials.
