Quincy man walks from Yankee Stadium to Fenway Park for charity

David Spillane of Quincy was recognized at Fenway Park on Saturday for his 209-mile fundraising walk from Yankee Stadium to raise money for the Elizabeth Stone House for survivors of domestic violence.

The 64-year-old lawyer took the field before the game between the Red Sox and Yankees to celebrate his latest long-distance walk.

He left the Bronx on Sept. 18 and averaged about 20 miles a day. The walk took 439,000 steps.

Last November, Spillane walked from Stockbridge to Boston in tribute to James Taylor’s “Sweet Baby James.” That effort raised more than $50,000 for Elizabeth Stone.

Spillane hopes to raise $50,000 on his baseball walk. A fundraiser will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Alba restaurant in Quincy center. Tickets are $25 each and available at the door.
