In 2002, The Alzheimer’s Association selected Thomson Communications to manage is public relations and media sponsorship initiates for its annual Walk To End Alzheimer’s in Massachusetts. As agency of record Thomson Communications is responsible for all public relations activities, media relations, and executive-level counsel, as well as media partner sponsorship negotiation. In 2007, Thomson Communications also began managing the public relations initiatives for the New Hampshire walks. In 2015, the Association had the staff to manage PR for the events internally.

The firm was also tapped to assist the organization with the launch of its new brand identity in Massachusetts. The Alzheimer’s Association is the world leader in Alzheimer research and support and is undergoing a nation-wide new branding initiative to re-define its mission. Thomson Communications responsibilities include promoting the Association’s new mission to media outlets throughout Massachusetts.

In addition, agency president David Thomson, has been an active volunteer for the Massachusetts/New Hampshire chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, serving on the Leadership Council and Communications Taskforce.

Thomson was actively involved with the Make The Link golf tournament since it began in 1997, chairing the event until it ended in 2012. Under his direction the event saw dramatic increase in revenues, making it one of the Alzheimer’s Associations premier fundraising events each year.

In 2004 Thomson was honored by the Alzheimer’s Association with the Myer Saxe Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and continued efforts on behalf of people in Massachusetts with Alzheimer’s and their families.
