Project Description
Cakes For Occasions, located in Danvers, Massachusetts, specializes in creating the finest gourmet cakes and sinfully delicious pastries. Owner Kelly Delaney first hired Thomson Communications to promote the fact that a wedding cake she created was chosen by NBC’s Today Show as a finalist for their annual on-air wedding. Thomson Communications created a plan that lead to her cake being voted on by America as their favorite.
Since that time, Thomson Communications has been Cakes For Occasions public relations agency of record. As a result, Kelly Delaney has been a frequent guest on the FOX25 Morning News as well as appeared on NECN’s TV Diner with Billy Costa and Good Morning Live. Delaney was also selected to appear in a national ad campaign for King Arthur Flour. The full-page ads ran in magazines such as Gourmet and Yankee, as well as an eight-page profile in Baker’s Companion.
Stories on Cakes For Occasions and Delaney have appeared in multiple newspapers and magazines. And based on the increased awareness, Delaney has doubled her staff, from 15 employees in 2006 to 30 employees today.
In April 2007, Thomson Communications developed and launched the Cakes For Caring Campaign so Cakes For Occasions could focus their charitable giving on one non-profit organization each month. As part of the campaign, the pastry chefs at Cakes For Occasions are creating a unique cupcake for each month’s selected charity and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of that cupcake will be donated to the organization.
In November 2011, Thomson Communications was instrumental in landing Delaney a 30-minute spot on Bloomberg TV’s The Mentor. This opportunity led to a relationship with HSN where Delaney has been featured selling her products.
