The Buonopane family of Swampscott are frequent visitors to the Swampscott library.
Having a child with Down Syndrome, Stefanie Buonopane was disappointed to find only one outdated kids book and only a few resources for parents on the subject. She decided to ask friends and family to donate books to the library that would promote inclusion and acceptance or provide education about Down Syndrome.
The family collected 16 books, which were displayed at the library on March 21 — World Down Syndrome Day. The library aide also read two of those books on March 18 during pajama story time.
Felicity Buonopane, 22 months, receives early intervention and other services from the Northeast Arc and will be modeling with her doctor at Mass General Hospital, Dr. Brian Skotko, at Northeast Arc’s An Evening of Changing Lives, a dinner and fashion show to be held April 25 in Boston.
